Creative Quilting
Want to do creative quilting with your domestic – short – mid – long- arm quilting machine? Many quilt piecing patterns say “Quilt as Desired”. Sometimes you need to step away from the mechanical side of machine quilting to give yourself the freedom to find your “Quilt as Desired”. This 3 hour class begins with a lecture, then a trunk show and finishes up with brainstorming on how to quilt the unquilted tops students bring to class. Attack your s
tash and use this pattern and scrap organization plan to make functional quilts. This pattern can be made with as few as 12 fat quarters but 25 fabric choices give the quilt a nice variety. None of the pieces need to be larger than 12 ½” square.
"GARBAGE CAN QUILT" (String Scrap Quilt) – The garbage can is full of fabric scraps from ¾” to 1 ½” wide. String the fabric pieces onto a fabric foundation and have fun. Many gift ideas for using string scrap blocks will be shown from pot holders, pillows, tablerunners to full size quilts. You can get a lot accomplished while visiting too, sewing the blocks is a fun no brainer activity. You can bring your scraps if you want but there will be plenty available.
"JEWEL BOX/STAR" QUILT TOP
The Jewel Box is a favorite scrap quilt of mine. My friend Ann Gorde added the Star Block during a class and what a nice flow between the blocks. This is a great 2 color quilt and construction time is faster using 2 colors instead of scraps.

This workshop, held at our main campus in Renton, Washington, is for those considering Longarm Quilting as a business or those planning to buy a machine. Ione Whitney on starting your own machine quilting business. Dian Keepers will teach you about free motion designs and Cindy Roth will show you how to work with borders, corners, block motifs, stitch in the ditch and more. You will also learn how to do edge to edge patterns (pantographs). Ione also teaches “What do I Quilt on this Quilt and shows many quilts with her KISS – “Keep It Simple Stitching” quilting style.

Using quick prairie points make this fun wall hanging in just a few short hours. The tree fabric can be only 1 fabric or several pieces of green tree fabric at least 4 ½” square, but longer pieces make construction quicker. Supply List
